Khalid fought next to the prophet (saw) in several battles such as: Tabook, Hunain, & the battle of Ta'if which was a continuation for Hunain. Qays, he was irritated and ordered Abu 'Ubayda to discharge Khalid and investigate him about the money he collected. Two hundred Thousand men against 3 Thousand Muslims! He was severely condemned for his actions. The prophet (saw) decided to send 3 Thousand men under the leadership of "Zaid bin Harithah", and if he gets killed then "Jafar bin Abi Talib", and if he gets killed then "Abdullah bin Rawaha", and if he gets killed then Muslims ought to elect their new leader. When Prophet Muhammad (s) was informed of the incident, he dissociate himself from Khalid's action and sent 'Ali b. Abi Talib (a) to pay diyat (blood-money) of the deceased. Kahlid is the one who opened "Bilad Ashaam" and Iraq. 'Umar b. Khattab also attended his funeral ceremony. Is the standard of this army a black one? Musaylama was killed and his supporters were decisively suppressed. According to one narration he was also appointed by 'Umar as the governor of a number of cities including Ruha, Harran, Raqqa, Talmazan and Amid, where he stayed for a year. It's said that only 12 "Sahabah" left fighting and protecting the prophet (saw). Khalid was a tall man with a well built body. Walid along with 400 soldiers toward Banu Harith (Balharith b. Ka'b) in Najran to invite them to Islam. Khalid was a great warrior, with or against Muslims. In the third year after Hijrat, Khalid was the leader of cavalries of the right flank of the army in the battle of Uhud. Khalid embraced Islam just 3 years before the death of prophet Mohammad (saw). When Khalid heard "Al-Abbas" calling for the Muslims, Khalid pulled back and headed toward the Prophet (saw). All this happened during the rule of "Abu-Bakr" and "Umar bin Al-Khattab". He set camps in eastern side of Damascus on 16th of Muharram and after laying siege to the city, they managed to enter the city peacefully in Rajab. Even though Khlaid didn't participate in the early battles, but of course, the prophet (saw) did foresee that Khalid will fight to raise the word of Islam. Historians did not mention the birth date of Khalid b. Walid, but regarding the age of Khalid in the time of his death and his death date, it is assumed that he was born 26 years before Bi'that (584) in Mecca.
